Paralysis is the loss of muscle function in part of your body, resulting from a problem with the transmission of signals between the brain and muscles. It can be temporary or permanent and can affect any part of the body. 

Types

Monoplegia

Paralysis affecting one limb.

Hemiplegia

Paralysis affecting one side of the body (often due to a stroke).

Paraplegia

Paralysis affecting both legs and the lower part of the body.

Quadriplegia (Tetraplegia)

Paralysis affecting all four limbs and possibly the torso.

Partial Paralysis

Muscle function is partially impaired.

Complete Paralysis

Total loss of muscle function.

    • MRI or CT Scan: To identify brain or spinal cord injuries, tumors, or other structural abnormalities. 
    • X-rays: To detect fractures or dislocations of the spine.
