Varicocele

A varicocele is an enlargement of the veins within the scrotum, similar to varicose veins that can occur in the legs. These veins, called the pampiniform plexus, become dilated and tortuous, which can lead to issues such as pain, testicular atrophy, or infertility.

Types of Varicocele

Primary Varicocele:

1. Commonly occurs on the left side due to anatomical differences.

2. Usually develops during puberty.

Secondary Varicocele:

1. Caused by increased pressure on the spermatic vein due to conditions such as abdominal masses or kidney tumors.

2. Can occur on either side and may develop later in life.
