High Cholesterol

High Cholesterol, also known as hypercholesterolemia, is a condition where there is an excessive amount of cholesterol in the blood. Cholesterol is a fatty substance essential for building cells, but too much can increase the risk of heart disease. 

Types of Cholesterol

Low-Density Lipoprotein

Often referred to as "bad" cholesterol. High levels can lead to plaque buildup in arteries.

High-Density Lipoprotein

Known as "good" cholesterol. It helps remove LDL cholesterol from the arteries.

Triglycerides

A type of fat in the blood. High levels combined with high LDL or low HDL cholesterol can increase the risk of heart disease.
