Bell’s Palsy

Bell’s palsy is a condition that causes sudden, temporary weakness or paralysis of the muscles on one side of the face. It results from damage to the facial nerve (cranial nerve VII), which controls facial muscles. The exact cause is unknown, but it is often linked to viral infections.

Types

Idiopathic Bell's Palsy

The most common type, with no identifiable cause.

Bilateral Bell's Palsy

A rare form affecting both sides of the face.

Recurrent Bell's Palsy

Occurs when someone experiences multiple episodes of facial paralysis, often on the same side.
